Best Family-Friendly Easter Events In Sacramento

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail, and you're invited along. Sac is no slough when it comes to Easter. In fact, here's a list of family options for celebrating the most hoppening of holidays.

The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District hold their annual Easter adventure for all ages. An egg hunt for children (ages 0-13). includes carnival games and inflatables prizes, a choo-choo ride and a face painting station. Yes, even the Sac River Train is getting into the holiday swing of things. Running at select times throughout the end of March, kids will receive a bag on board to be decorated for the hunt. Then it's on to Elkhorn Park where the Easter Bunny will unveil the ruse that eggs are hidden throughout the park. Afterward, you'll return with your goodies, while the Bunny of the day will tell stories. Prices for the ride will vary according to amenities. Visit the website for more.

You want to hit this up early, as the SCNA is holding their annual pajama parade starting at 9:30 am. The rest of the day, you'll be sniffing out Peter Cottontail's bounty. The hunt is divided into two age group: ages 0 to 3, and 4 to 12. Everyone else gets to watch! Get a 5x8" photo with the bunny of the hour for only $5, or partake in the holidays craft. It's free, and all you have to do is roll out of bed. Doesn't get much better, eh?

Take the kids out to Land Park this Easter, as Fairytale Land hold its annual Eggatravaganza. Egg hunting, prizes, spring themed arts and crafts and more await you this holiday, as Fairytale Land sets the stage for some fun. Additionally, the Puppet Theater Art will also be on hand performing Bunny Bootcamp in the Children's Theater. Show times are at 12:30, 1:30 & 2:30 p.m., with Tickets costing $1 for members and $2 for nonmembers. Be sure to get a photo with the one and only Peter Cottontail at the Mother Goose stage for $5. Admission to the eggstravaganza is free.

The Grand Island Mansion hold brunch regularly, but on Easter Sunday you and yours get to enjoy exquisite cuisine in that setting. Orinally built in in 1917 for Louis Meyers family, the Italian-style 58 room villa has become a staple in the Northern California repertoire. On March 27th, you'll get to experience the majesty firsthand.
