Best Bets For Dining Out On Easter In Sacramento

With Easter only a couple weeks away, it's time to get your holiday restaurant reservations in. Whether you're planning an intimate Easter Brunch for two or a gathering of 50, or perhaps looking to add a little ethnic culinary flair to your meal, these Sacramento area spots have you covered.

Morgan's Restaurant is located inside the Sheraton Grand Hotel in midtown Sacramento. This year, the restaurant is offering a special Easter brunch with two seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.  The cuisine is termed "California Creative," with an emphasis on sustainable farming and farm to table freshness. Morgan's is set in the atrium of the historic Public Market Building, overlooking the hotel lobby and Public Market bar. With the natural sunlight and its open design, Morgan's is a great place to spread out and enjoy a wonderful Easter brunch with your family.

Head up the 80 Freeway to Roseville where La Provence will make you feel as though you instantly left Northern California and were transplanted to a quaint village bistro in the South of France. While La Provence has an intimate feel, this is the spot for large gatherings. If you are hoping for a restaurant that can hold a large group for Easter brunch, La Provence has experience hosting big parties. It has consistently been recognized as a Sacramento favorite for fine French cuisine and a fabulous spot for Sunday brunch.

The Firehouse in Old Sacramento is a beloved local institution. While it's "only" been a restaurant for over 50 years, the building's history dates back to 1853. It was originally home to the Sacramento No. 3 firehouse and became the first building in Old Sacramento to be restored and designated as a historical landmark. For Easter, The Firehouse is open all day, but it's the Easter Brunch that shines. It is typically a combination of buffet and plated menu courses. The brunch starts with a first course buffet of pastries, canapes, breads, fruits and cured meats with a selection of artisan cheeses. The main and dessert courses are plated entrees chosen off a special Easter menu.

Add a little Asian flair to your traditional Easter brunch with some dumplings, egg rolls, lumpia and Cantonese dim sum specialties.  Fat's Asia Bistro in Folsom puts together a pretty interesting Easter brunch with a number of Asia Pacific specialties.The restaurant is part of the beloved Frank Fat's family of restaurants in Sacramento and is the second Bistro in the group (after Roseville) and opened in 2005. The original Frank Fat's in downtown Sacramento is a true legend -- a political landmark and the city's oldest eatery -- and in its 73rd year of business.

Sweetwater Restaurant and Bar is a phenomenal stop for Sunday Brunch on its own, but its bottomless mimosas for $10 on Sundays definitely elevates this to a perfect spot for Easter Sunday. Typically, Sweetwater offers over 30 breakfast, brunch and lunch items on an annual Easter brunch buffet. Look for a variety of dishes, including multiple types of Eggs Benedicts, salads, pastas, pastries and more.
