Attempted Kidnapping Investigation Continues After Subject's Release
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) -- Authorities have released a man detained Friday and are continuing the search for a suspect who has repeatedly attempted to kidnap children around Roseville schools.
The Roseville Police Department released a man who had been detained in connection with an alleged attempt to lure a child into a vehicle near Catherine Gates Elementary School on Thursday afternoon, but officers soon verified that he was not present for Thursday's incident and other attempted kidnappings.
The subject was released Friday and is no longer considered a suspect in any of the incidents.
Authorities have received at least seven reports of attempted kidnappings in the past two weeks, but the descriptions of the suspicious men and their vehicles have varied greatly. In all of the incidents, the targeted children ran away when contacted by the suspect.
Parents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity and remind their children to never accept rides from strangers.
