Apartments Flooded By Busted Sprinkler
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A malfunctioning emergency sprinkler flooded an apartment complex Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Sacramento Fire Department said the responded to the Globe Mills apartments on the 1100 block of C Street after an alarm company notified them a sprinkler system had activated.
Fire crews found no signs of fire when they arrived, but found water pouring out of a single unit on the fourth floor.
The water flooded a number of units and left hundreds of gallons of water in the complex's basement, officials said.
Crews worked to pump the water out of the building and shut off the electrical system until all remaining water is removed.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
