Stop Me If You've Heard This One: Across The Top Project Delayed, Again
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Drivers hoping for an end to the Across The Top Project will once again be disappointed, as Caltrans says it will not meet its Friday goal.
Work began on the project to widen 10 miles of Interstate 80 from the Yolo County line to Watt Avenue in 2011, and it was supposed to be done by late 2014.
But a series of problems have been working against the project, including rain. Optimism had the project pegged for completion this summer, but a two-mile section of newly poured concrete cracked, pushing it back again to this Friday.
A wet start to the fall has pushed those plans back, however. Caltrans is hoping to have it ready by mid to late December, but seeing as how the Sacramento region is prone to rain in November and December, a 2017 completion date may be more likely.
