2 Killed After Car Loses Control, Hits Tree Near Modesto

(CBS13) - Two people were killed near Modesto on Monday after the vehicle they were in hit a tree.

Just before 7 a.m. Monday, a car with three male passengers inside was going westbound on Beckwith Road, just outside of Modesto, when another vehicle passed them, coming close to hitting them as it went by, says the CHP. According to the survivor, the driver of the vehicle that was passed lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

The driver and front seat passenger were pinned inside the wreckage. The passenger, who was sitting in the back seat, got out and ran for help. The two people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are searching for the vehicle that may have been connected to the crash. It is described as a dark brown or grey 2000s Honda Civic.
