1 dead, 1 injured after truck crashes into tree in Modesto
MODESTO — One person died and another was hospitalized after a truck crashed into a tree in Modesto, officials said Monday.
The Modesto Police Department said it happened in the area of East Briggsmore Avenue between Parker Ranch Way and Claus Road. It happened a little after 7 p.m.
Law enforcement officials advise people to avoid that area.
Personnel from the Modesto Fire Department also responded to the scene. The department said the truck caught fire after the collision with a tree.
Both people in the truck were taken to an area hospital where one of them was pronounced dead.
