Out to dinner in Raleigh, N.C., with my hair stylist, Kim Serratore, and makeup artist, Lisa Mirante. I'm a Southern girl, and it's so hard to find good barbecue in the New York City area. We couldn't wait to sample the local fare!
Dave Price and I during an appearance on CBS affiliate WRAL on July 12, 2007, before broadcasting The Early Show live from Raleigh the following morning.
One of my favorite things about our "Summer in the City" tour is that I get to interact with enthusiastic Early Show fans. Some of our most devoted viewers came out to support us in Raleigh. Perhaps lured by those "Hannah and Dave" signs, my co-host stepped over to say hello to the crowd during a break.
I usually wear my hair down, but my hairstylist Kim and I decided to have some fun with my locks; after all, it was summer and we were on the road! I had such a fun time in Raleigh. It's an absolutely beautiful Dixie city, and, having been spared from destruction during the Civil War, its historic architecture and parks make it a snapshot of the Old South.
The crowds in Raleigh were amazing and so full of energy. Taking a breather, I posed with symbols of Americana, a Brownie Girl Scout and a mascot promoting restaurant chain Chick-fil-A. That's part of what I love about taking the show on the road -- meeting people and experiencing things out of the ordinary. Can you imagine people dressed as giant cows showing up at our studio in Manhattan?
Our show's cooking segments are always so much fun. I learn how to cook a new dish or two, then get to sample them after we've wrapped! (That's especially fun in the South, where I'm fond of local favorites like chess pie and ribs.) In Raleigh, I learned from Chef Walter Royal of the Angus Barn.
I like to leave cooking to the masters, but I got into the action in Raleigh. I have fun with food, but I'm health-conscious, so it was only fitting that I should help make the salad!
Dave and I get up close and personal with some hearty Southern grub.
My favorite part of these segments is tasting the delicious final product!
Confession: I'm a huge country music fan. In the mornings after the show, I'm usually in my office working and listening to tunes -- and recently, Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby's namesake album has taken up residence in my CD player. So I was thrilled to be on our Early Show stage in Raleigh to jam a few songs.

Our Raleigh fans were so much fun. They even let me and Dave Price rock out with them during the Skaggs and Hornsby concert!
Some of the best moments on our show are totally off the cuff! It's not hard to have a blast when you're co-hosting The Early Show under a Carolina blue sky with Dave Price -- he's one of the most fun-loving guys you'll ever meet. Here we are onstage, doing an impromptu dance to the music.
Goodbye, Raleigh, and thank you! Next stop for me on our "Summer in the City" tour is Dallas on Aug. 3!
