Star Bright
The newly discovered second brightest star in our Galaxy, the "Peony Nebula Star," is seen in the central region of our Milky Way as captured by the Spitzer Space Telescope. While the existence of the star was already known, it wasn't until the Spitzer's infrared instruments were able to pierce the dust in the nebula that scientists could calculate it's brightness. The star puts out light equivalent to 3.2 million suns.
