Teenagers Report For Work, Part Of City's WorkReady Program

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Today is day two of Philadelphia's summer jobs program for teenagers.
The six-week WorkReady summer jobs program gives kids between the ages of 14 and 21 real summer jobs, providing "real world" work experience.
The program is partially funded by a $375,000 donation from Goldman Sachs, where John F.W. Rogers is executive VP.
"Summer jobs increase the employment, earnings and college-going rates of participants after they graduate from high school," Rogers says.

"I learned how to market myself professionally, how to convince employers how to invest in me and also learned valuable speaking skills especially around adults."
The program now offers 7,600 summer jobs, up from 6,800 last year.
