New Access Ramps To Open Along Busy Stretch Of Route 422 In Montgomery County

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., (CBS) -- Two new access ramps will open later Tuesday along a busy stretch of Route 422 in Montgomery County, with the hope of easing some congestion in the area.
Before the upgrade, there were only two ramps at the US 422 – Route 363, Trooper Road interchange dating back, says PennDOT spokesman Gene Blaum to the highway's construction in the 1970s.
"When the interchange was first built the demand was for those two moves: to go westbound 422 to Trooper Road, and Trooper Road to go east heading into King of Prussia," said Blaum.
This is all part of a nearly $17 million project to improve this stretch of 422. The two new ramps, one allows access from Trooper Road to 422-west, the other to get off 422-east onto Trooper Road. Blaum says it will also relieve some congestion at other interchanges, especially the overwhelmed Egypt Road corridor.
