Caught On Tape: Coin Shop Robbery In Bucks County

By Todd Quinones

BENSALEM, Pa., (CBS) – Police are investigating an armed robbery at a coin shop in Bensalem, Bucks County.

Police say the suspects were armed with a knife and a pipe and they did a lot of damage.

It happened Tuesday at the Bensalem Plaza Shopping Center on Street Road.

Eyewitness News reporter Todd Quinones shows us the video.

One thief is seen smashing out window cases, stealing silver and gold coins.

The other criminal can be seen forcing the owner to the floor to tie up his wrists and ankles. Another store employee was also tied up.

They were armed with a long pipe and this large knife they left behind that police collected as evidence.

The owner of Coins, Stamps, Sportscards asked Eyewitness News not to show his face.

"Scared, just shocked it's really happening, it's for real. Like I said I thought it was some kind of a joke until it was serious."

The thieves tried covering up their faces, but one of them fails big time.

You can see a nice big close-up of one of the suspects after he pushed back his hood, making him clearly identifiable to anyone who knows who he is.

The other suspect is bald and wore glasses. Both men appear to be middle-aged.

And at the very tail end of the robbery, a customer actually walked into the store here. He too was pushed and has his wrists tied together, all of this happening in broad daylight just before 3 p.m.

"But he was able to get out of that as they made their way out of the store and I hollered to him to cut the straps and to hit the hold up button."

The robbery happened inside the Bensalem Plaza Shopping Center on the 2100 block of Street Road.

The two men ran away and made off with about $5,000 in gold and silver coins.

Bensalem Police are asking anyone who recognizes the men to call them immediately at (215) 633-3719.
