PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials say the Philadelphia Zoo will be closed the weekend of the Papal visit in Philadelphia at the end of September.
Zoo officials say the zoo will remain open to the public on Friday, September 25 and plans for Monday, September 28 are still being discussed.
In a statement the zoo says, "Due to the anticipated impact of these events across the region, Philadelphia Zoo will be open to the public on Friday, September 25th but closed to the public on Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th. Since the Philadelphia Zoo is home to a living collection there will be essential personnel from several departments staying onsite throughout the weekend to handle animal care as well as safety and facility needs."
