PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia is officially in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest Soul Train line in the world.
The hippest trip in the world took place February 13th, 2012 as a tribute to Soul Train creator Don Cornelius. On that wintry day, more than 2000 people gathered outside the Art Museum of Philadelphia dressed in bell bottoms and bush wigs, dancing for hours to break the record set at 211 dancers by Beverly Hills High School.
"The official count is 291 dancers," says organizer Sheila Simmons.
Simmons says it took video proof and witness statements to solidify the record, but the Guinness Book certificate arrived on Monday -- a huge tribute to Philadelphia.
"It was so much positivity and love and harmony," she says. "It was a very memorable event. And the fact that it's in a history book somewhere makes it just that much more special."
