Made In America Contract Between Live Nation, Philadelphia Obtained
By Jenn Bernstein
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Eyewitness News has obtained a copy of the Made in America contract between Live Nation and Philadelphia from the Controller's Office.
This is the first time we're getting to look at a cost breakdown for this major event. Keep in mind, this contract contains estimates and not the final figures.
According to it, Live Nation is responsible to reimburse the city for a large chunk of expenses. These are the rough estimates found in the contract:
- Police: $220,000
- Fairmont Park: $120,000
- EMS & OEM: $90,000
- Sanitation: $60,000
- L & I : $10,000
- Health : $1,000
Total estimated: $501,000
The contract also states Live Nation is required to pay for all personnel, including overtime costs.
Something to note, we did learn during the weekend, there was a significant amount of police who were told not show up which likely means the police cost is less than shown.
If you have gone by the Parkway, you know the grounds aren't in great condition. According to this contract, Live Nation is supposed to take care of the repair costs.
We did confirm with sources, Live Nation will be covering the cost of repair to the Parkway. Sources also told Eyewitness News ticket sales totaled $5 million over the two day concert.
What isn't clear yet is what part of this event the city is actually paying for, if any.
Mayor Nutter had said all along there would be some kind of cost sharing. Again, he told Eyewitness News Thursday, the final numbers would be made public very soon.
