Judge Allows Pa. Attorney General To Keep 'Explicit' E-Mails Secret
By Tony Romeo
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- It's now up to Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane to decide whether to make public the allegedly pornographic e-mails sent within the attorney general's office following a judge's ruling on the matter.
Several Pennsylvania news organizations were seeking the release of materials the judge says are "described variously as being pornographic or sexually explicit in nature."
Former chief deputy attorney general Frank Fina filed a motion to block the release of those e-mails sent among staffers that were discovered during the attorney general's office internal review of how the Jerry Sandusky investigation was handled.
The judge has now decided that any materials related to grand jury investigations must remain secret, but has also ruled that he does not have jurisdiction over materials not related to grand jury matters.
As to what happens next, a spokesman for the attorney general's office says only that they are reviewing the judge's order and have no further comment at this time.
