Husband-Wife Team Record Song To Benefit 7-Year-Old With Cancer

By Chelsea Lacey-Mabe

Doylestown, Pa -- Dominic Liples of Doylestown is a Philly sports fan, a big brother and like most 7-year-old boys he finds farts hilarious!

Unlike most 7-year-olds Dominic, a 2nd grader at Kutz Elementary, was recently diagnosed with a grade-three malignant brain tumor. In March he underwent surgery to remove a large part of the mass followed by radiation and chemotherapy treatments through the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at the Penn Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
Dominic's story has rallied his community, specifically his neighbors, Mr. Steve and Miss Katie Piperno, who recorded a song to show their support of the Liple family.

"He's brave, he's strong, he fights what's wrong. He's Super Dominic," the lyrics go.

Steve Piperno explains it was Dominic's strength, bravery and courage that inspired him and his wife to write the single.

"When I spoke with my musician friends about our idea to raise money by writing a special song for Dominic, they all immediately offered to play on the song for free," said Steve, explaining the accompanying guitars, trumpets, bass and trombone heard behind his and Katie's vocals.

All proceeds from the Super Dominic song go to the Liples family and can be purchased from iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby for 99 cents. While the goal is to hit 1000 downloads, the ultimate purpose of the song is to spread Dominic's story beyond Doylestown, a community that has already invested their full support.

Local businesses have hosted fundraising events, churches have held prayer services and "Pray for Dominic" signs have gone up in windows and storefronts all around town.

Meanwhile several residents helped set up to keep everyone updated on Dominic's progress. The site also provides ways people can help Dominic's parents care for their son whether it's through a financial contribution or by dropping off meals. Friends of the Liple family can also sign up for play dates with Dominic's younger brother Ciarlo who has spina bfida.

"Kenny and Kira were one of the first couples we met when we moved to Doylestown five years ago" said Katie Piperno, recalling how they first met the Liples' and how they welcomed them. "Steve and I hope that our song shows Dominic how much we love him and that the funds generated from its downloads make a difference to his family."

Dominic has made some progress since his surgery, making it through a whole day of school on Tuesday but he's set to begin another round of treatments this week in Philadelphia.

Dominic made it through the whole day!!!! I did drop him off a little late, but 9:45-3pm under the circumstances is...

In the hospital it's likely Dominic will be listening to Super Dominic again.

"(Last time) Kira said everybody who came into his room he had to play the song for," said Steve.
