Gov. Corbett Says Lottery Privatization Contract is Signed and Being Vetted

HERSHEY, Pa. (CBS) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett says the contract with a private firm to manage the Pennsylvania Lottery has now been signed and is in the hands of the state attorney general for her review.
Corbett traveled today to Hershey, Pa. to pitch a group of senior citizens about the benefits a private lottery manager would bring, including growing profits to meet the increasing demand for senior services funded by the lottery.
The governor said the agreement with Camelot Global Services has now been signed and delivered to the attorney general, who has 30 days to review it. If she finds problems with the contract, Corbett says, he expects the AG to cooperate.
"When I was attorney general, on contracts, if we saw a potential problem with the contract we worked with them to get the contract fixed," Corbett said today.
But Corbett is the first Republican governor to work with an elected Democratic attorney general, and Democrats in the legislature have strenuously objected to the deal.
Corbett, meanwhile, says he also plans to roll out his proposal to privatize liquor sales sometime in the next few weeks.
