Senator Expected To Call For Funding Of Emergency Preparedness Plan For Zika Virus
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A U.S. Senator is calling for full funding for a Zika virus emergency response plan.
Senator Bob Casey will be calling on Congress for supplemental funding that would support Zika virus readiness, response capacity in states, prevention and education.
More information is expected to be released from Washington on Thursday.
Two cases of the Zika virus have been reported in Pennsylvania, and one in Delaware.
According to authorities all three became infected while traveling to countries currently dealing with the Zika outbreak.
Officials have not said where those infected are from or what country or countries they visited.
