Broad Street Runners To Have A Group Of Musicians Cheering Them On
By Cherri Gregg
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Broad Street runners and those cheering them on will hear sweet music at mile three.
It's the second annual Uptown Drum for the Run.
"There's going to be about six drummers and we're also going to encourage the drumming community to come out and help encourage the runners along," said Aissia Richard, the vice president of operations for Uptown Entertainment Development Corporation.
She says the goal is to bring attention to the revitalization of arts on North Broad Street.
"It's really about bringing arts, culture, community events and festivals to the neighborhood so people don't have to go downtown, they don't have to go to Old City, they don't have to go to Independence Hall."
Percussionists such as Robert Kenyatta and Baba Joe Bryant are among those who will be performing in the 2200 Block of North Broad from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
