Best Kids Menus In Philadelphia

By Christina Dagnelli

Taking the family out to eat can be a fun time. It's nice to have someone else cook for you and especially clean up after your family. So if you are taking the kids, you may want to find places that have a great kid's menu. There are many restaurants in the Philly area that serve different types of cuisine. Here are the top 5 with the best kid's menu.

Amy's Omelet House
302 Cuthbert Blvd.
Cherry Hill, NJ 08002
(856) 488-9600
www.youramys.com

Amy's makes large omelets all day long, plus their menu features down-home cooking. Most of the time when you see a restaurant with 200 choices the food isn't so good. But this isn't the case here at Amy's Omelet House. The Children's menu is one of the largest also featuring 14 lunch and dinner items. Kids will enjoy the clever names such as "The Space Ship" (grilled cheese and fries) and the "Hot Diggity Dog" (hot dog and fries). The service here is friendly, fun and the prices are affordable.

The Pop Shop
729 Haddon Ave.
Collingswood, NJ 08108
(856) 869-0111
www.thepopshopusa.com

The Pop Shop is the go-to restaurant for many families in the South Jersey area for the kid-friendly atmosphere and food choices. The Pop Shop is designed with retro fun and is reminiscent of the American Soda Fountain. They serve American carhop type foods such as Burgers, grilled cheese, salads and of course their infamous ice cream menu.  Ice Cream here is often the main event.  Some popular choices are ice cream soda, and the "Elvis has left the building" which features, chocolate, peanut butter, and banana ice cream. All ice cream is hand dipped Bassett's. The Pop Shop also offers sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan ice cream. Keep in mind this is a very popular place for kids, so therefore on the noisy side. So if your kids are sensitive to the sounds you will want to visit at an off time when it's less crowded.

The Farm and Fisherman's Tavern
575 Horsham Road
Horsham, PA. 19044
(267) 673-8974
www.fandftavern.com

The Farm and Fisherman is for foodie kids as much as their adult parents. Some of the popular items on the kids' menu are the Salmon, Burger, Mac-n-cheese, and Rigatoni. All come with fruit, vegetable and dessert. Might be considered pricey at $8-$12. But the farm to table great food and casual atmosphere make up for it for most customers. The Farm and Fishermen's Tavern also serves gluten-free options and dairy free. The menu is changing as it's mostly local and seasonal. They also have a location in Cherry Hill, NJ.

City Tavern
138 South Second St.
Philadelphia, PA 19106
(215) 413-1443
www.citytavern.com

City Tavern has been voted Best Kids Menu in Philly for numerous years. It is a reconstructed Colonial Tavern, where kids will enjoy people in period dress and colonial decor. Water is served by the goblet for example. Kids are also given free postcards. Some top menu item picks for kids are the Rootbeer in a mug, or apple cider and kid versions of turkey pot pie, and fish and chips.

Max Brenner
1500 Walnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19102
(215) 344-8150
www.maxbrenner.com

Max Brenner is a Chocolate themed restaurant so stands to reason kids may like this place. The kids' menu is adorned with all kid favorites including Mac-n-cheese, chicken fingers, pizza, pasta, and cheeseburgers.  The prices are a bit higher here ($9 is considered high for kids food). But there is a novelty element with many fun aspects for kids, like the syringe of marinara sauce that comes with the Mac-n-cheese and pasta dishes. Dessert is a big win here because they have a chocolate bar.  And most people can't say anything negative about a chocolate bar.
