2 Dead, 3 Injured In Crash Along I-295 In Gloucester County

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- State police say two people are dead and three others were injured after an accident along Interstate 295 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

It happened around 8 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes between exit 17 and 18 near Gibbstown, Greenwich Township.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jasmine Gonzales from Pensauken and 22-year-old Nkemjika Anyim from Berlin were killed after the gray Acura they were in was struck by a white Lexus. The back seat passenger, 23-year-old Alicia Leyman, survived the crash and was released from Cooper Hospital.

Police say 22-year-old Hector Ortiz and 19-year-old Luis Ramos were in the other vehicle and were taken to Inspira Hospital. No word on their conditions.

The crash led to major traffic delays, so drivers were urged to stay away from the area.

Investigators were on the scene trying to determine what caused the deadly wreck.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
