Allen Iverson Says He And Tyronn Lue Are 'The Best Of Friends'

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – For most Sixers fans under the age of 40, there is not a better moment in team history than Allen Iverson's crossover, jump shot, and step over a fallen then Lakers guard Tyronn Lue in Game 1 of the 2001 NBA Finals.

The two were recently in the same building when Iverson returned to welcome the Sixers crowd before a playoff game against the Boston Celtics. Lue is an assistant coach with Boston.

Iverson was recently interviewed by Slam Magazine's Tzvi Twersky, and said the two are now close.

"I was just into the game at that point," Iverson said, setting the scene for the way he recalls his unforgettable crossover, jumpshot, stepover, of Tyronne Lue in Game 1 of the 2001 Finals. "We were battling during that game, me and him. Basically every time we played against each other, he always took a challenge when it came to me and tried to give his team what it needed to help them win. He stepped up to the plate, and I was hyped up at point.

"Once I hit the shot, he was right there and it was just a reaction. The strangest part about that is, me and him were big-time enemies when we played against each other; now we're the best of friends."

Iverson was wearing the Reebok Answer IV's when the moment happened, which Reebok is re-releasing on August 10th, and will be sold at Foot Locker, Finish Line and Champs. They will retail for $115.

This past Spring, Reebok re-released Iverson's original shoe, The Question.
