Two Young Girls Demonstrate Flower Pressing
By Robin Culverwell,
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Two young artisans who've learned the centuries-old technique of pressing flowers have given a presentation during the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's exhibit called "imPRESSive."
In this age, where just about everything is digital it's refreshing to see art created by hand and in meticulous detail.
Eva and Caroline Timoney, of Wyndmoore, discovered the art of pressing flowers through their dad & granddad, who were both gardeners, and neighbors.
They competed in the Philadelphia Flower Show and Caroline won.
Both girls, who are eleven years old, love the art form.
"Well I like that it's not just painting and drawing, but you get to use stuff from nature - doing art," says Eva.
Caroline says no equipment is required.
"If you have a bunch of big heavy phone books you could just pile some on the bottom & some on the top and just smoosh them," explains Caroline.
Just like when you were a kid.
