Worker: San Diego mayor made suggestive comments

Great-grandmother accuses Filner of sexual harassment 01:45

SAN DIEGO A volunteer city worker who assists senior citizens says San Diego Mayor Bob Filner repeatedly rubbed her hands, asked her on dates and made sexually suggestive comments.

Peggy Shannon said Thursday at a news conference that she cried when Filner kissed her on the lips in January and feared going to work. She says she was offended by his requests for dates because she knew he was engaged to another woman.

More than a dozen women have accused Filner of unwanted advances since mid-July. Shannon is the second city employee to go public. The mayor has rejected widespread calls to resign.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sharpened her criticism of the mayor on Thursday, saying on Twitter that he should step down and spare San Diego the pain and expense of a recall election.
