What does William H. Macy enjoy most about playing a dysfunctional father on Showtime's new series "Shameless"? "Certainly it's fun being drunk," Macy revealed in a recent interview. Although that can get in the way of acting out a scene at times.

"I just have to keep reminding myself to do the scene. A couple of times, on the way home I would think well that was a funny drunk but I forget to do the scene," he added.

The Oscar-nominated actor stars in the new Chicago-set series as Frank, a single parent with substance-abuse issues who leaves his six kids to fend for themselves most of the time.

And Macy said the show's plot set it apart from others, "Truthfully this isn't on Television now, I have never seen anything like this. I keep drawing a blank when I try to draw comparisons."

But Macy did also mention one infamous TV character who draws similarities to Frank, "Having said there are no comparisons, I am something of a 2011-Archie Bunker. By episode 5, I've insulted just about every religious or ethnic group in the world. But they're [the jokes] funny, so..."

Viewers can see Macy's character's antics with new episodes of "Shameless" Sundays on Showtime.
