VIDEO: "Tip jar bandit" hits L.A. restaurants
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - A woman dubbed the "Tip jar bandit" is accused of stealing from the staff at several Los Angeles-area restaurants and is still on the loose, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Security footage posted on YouTube captured the woman in action, according to the station.
L.A. Weekly reports the thief has has hit at least three dining spots in the past week.
On one occasion, the woman allegedly got into an argument with an employee who accused her of stealing from the tip jar.
Witnesses say the woman talks on her cellphone and pretends to be checking out the menu before grabbing the money and leaving, reports the station.
"As an employee here, we work for tips, so when people come in and steal from our tip jar it's really insulting to the work that we do," said Oliver Graham, an employee at Slicetruck Pizza, one of the restaurants from which the woman allegedly stole.
The suspect is said to be of Iranian descent, in her mid-20s and of medium build, and drives a white Infinity.
