Trying To KO Breast Cancer

For the third in a row, The Early Show is observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the "Pink For A Week" series.

All this week, items that help raise money for breast cancer charities are being featured.

The awareness campaign series kicked off on Monday with a giveaway of pink boxing gloves and boxing key rings donated by Everlast.

Everlast is donating 5 percent from the sale of every pair of its pink boxing gloves to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Joining in the fight is Melissa Hernandez, a former Golden Gloves champion.

Hernandez will wear Everlast's pink boxing gloves when she goes back into the ring in her upcoming world championship title fight on Nov. 4, part of "A Ring of Their Own" women's professional boxing series.

"I got involved because I believe we need to inform more people about breast cancer and know what's going on," Hernandez said. "I think [breast cancer] personally touches everyone because it's something that's going on and something we a need to be aware of."

Hernandez then helped distribute the pink boxing gloves and boxing glove key rings to members of The Early Show audience who gathered to watch the broadcast on the plaza.
