"The Voice": Contestant pool shrinks, two contenders sent home

"The Voice" contestant pool is shrinking, as two contenders were sent home on Tuesday night: Sylvia Yacoub of Christina Aguilera's team and Adam Levine's team member, Bryan Keith.

The previous night, Yacoub sang Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire," and Keith took on Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind." The performances were impressive; even Blake Shelton called it "the best episode we ever had." Despite the top-notch performances, two contenders had to go.

The elimination leaves eight contestants: Nicholas David, Cassadee Pope, Dez Duron, Cody Belew, Terry McDermott, Melanie Martinez, Trevin Hunte and Amanda Brown.

In addition the two eliminations, there was plenty of music to go around on Tuesday night's live show. Aguilera and her team kicked things off with a performance of "Let There Be Love," a song off the pop singer's new album, "Lotus."

Rascal Flatts joined forces with Blake Shelton's team and Levine for a rendition of Queen's "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Teams Blake and Christina also performed Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," a song chosen by a fan vote on Twitter.

"The Voice" returns at 8 p.m. ET Monday on NBC when the top eight will perform for America's votes.
