The Feedback: Weekly Music Updates!
(CBS) - To start off the Feedback this week we have an incredible track/music video combo from one of my favorites, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. If you have never heard their music I strongly suggest you check them out here.
Macklemore is an absolutely incredible emcee. His lyrics are magical and I have never heard something from this duo that I haven't absolutely loved.
Ben Haggerty (Macklemore) originally penned this back in 2008 and would perform it accapella. Those lyrics eventually transformed into a full track and, although initially scheduled for release in March 2011, Macklemore with the help of Director Zia Mohajerjasbi and many others on the "Wings Kickstart Campaign" delivered these highly anticipated visuals to complete his lyrical story.
Check out my post of this track back in January for the download and allow the song to just completely overwhelm thanks to Mack's amazing talent and the smooth vocals of a children's choir from his home town of Seattle.
"And this pair, this would be my parachute, so much more than just a pair of shoes"
-Macklemore
Next up we have the first single off of the upcoming album "w h o k i l l" by tUnE-yArDs. Another phenomenal video that starts off in a classroom with all the children wearing the trademark facepaint of Merril Garbus. My personal favorite part of the video is in the middle where in complete darkness there is a white light inside of the singers mouth. It is a stunning effect that really helps you to concentrate on the lyrics for this portion of the song. The song is very powerful, and the simple, yet engaging, and the video just adds to its overall experience and effect.
For a change of pace, this next video is a very mellow and catchy tune. To make it even better, the audio is a remix (or mashup) using some audio from the great old school Disney cartoons set to an entirely fitting visual remix of the cartoons. This song and video combo was made by YouTube user "dainumo", after a recent trip to Disney World which served as the inspiration. If you would like to download the track, check it out on the artist's Soundcloud page, HERE.
To close out the week, we have a cover of Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper" by Christina Grimmie and this girl can really sing it! Something about her impressive vocals reminds me of a young Christina Aguilera, and that is not just because they have the same first name. She really tried to hit that last note at the end of the song, impressive for someone with so much vocal maturity to look forward to. And although she doesn't quite have the Aguilera range just yet, something tells me we will be seeing and hearing more from Christina Grimmie in the future.
That's it for The Feedback this week. Feel free to check me out on Not Some Kid for daily music updates of everything you have got to hear!
