Take a Procrastination Test to Help Cure Your Worst Work-Avoidance Traits

There's no single kind of procrastination -- it comes in as many flavors as Eskimos have names for varieties of snow.

Avoiding a big project because you're not sure where to start? Always show up late for meetings? Start things but fail to finish them? These are all common ways to procrastinate, but they have different characteristics and root causes.

If you'd like to solve your own special brand of procrastination, I have just the solution for you.

Psychology Today has published a short 20 question quiz about procrastination. No matter how much you enjoy putting things off, this test will only take a few minutes to complete, since the questions are all short and simple. You get to assess yourself with statements like these:

  • Procrastination comes naturally to me
  • I have responsibilities that I'm not doing
  • I have plans that stay on the drawing board.
  • I divert from uncomfortable priorities
  • I tell myself that later is the time to begin.
You grade yourself in three categories: Not me, Somewhat like me, and Like me.

When you're done, you can read up on the areas that best describe you. Psychology Today provides a link to an article for each question, so you can zero in on the questions that are most troublesome and get immediate advice on a remedy. [via Lifehacker]
