Surgery May Sideline Forsberg
Colorado Avalanche center Peter Forsberg underwent surgery Tuesday on his left shoulder.
Team orthopedist Dr. Andy Parker repaired a tear in Forsberg's shoulder. Head athletic trainer Pat Karns said the operation was successful. Forsberg is expected to be sidelined for four to six months.
Forsberg aggravated the shoulder when he was hit by Dallas Stars defenseman Richard Matvichuk during the playoffs. Avalanche coaches complained about the hit.
Forsberg led the Avalanche in points (97) and assists (67) and also was their leading scorer during the playoffs. His 24 playoff points led the league.
