Stone Answers DUI Charge
Controversial Academy Award-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone pleaded not guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges Thursday, related to his arrest last month for investigation of driving under the influence.
Stone was arrested June 9 in Beverly Hills after a police officer allegedly spotted him driving erratically on Benedict Canyon Drive, reports Juan Fernandez of CBS station KCBS-TV.
Police say Stone's car crossed into oncoming lanes. Authorities allege officers searched the 1987 black Ford Mustang and found drugs in the car, including a small amount of hashish (concentrated cannabis).
Prosecutors say Stone's blood alcohol level was above the legal limit of .08 percent when he was arrested.
Stone's films include Platoon, Wall Street, J.F.K. and Natural Born Killers.
His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 20.
