Steve Irwin's Son Turns 3

Bob Irwin, the youngest son of Croc Hunter Steve Irwin, publicly celebrated his third birthday at his family's Australia Zoo on Friday, the Australian Associated Press reported.

The entire wildlife park and thousands of well-wishers helped him ring in his birthday, including Humphrey B. Bear, the Smurfs and Santa Claus, who made a surprise visit to feed some crocodiles, the Australian AP said.

Steve Irwin died in September, when he was stabbed in the heart by a stingray's barb while filming a TV special.

Wearing his Dad's signature outfit —khaki — Bob's mom, Terri, helped him blow out a Thomas the Tank Engine cake while the crowd sang Happy Birthday to him. His big sister, Bindi, 8, was also in tow.

The newspaper said that Terri, who did not give any interviews at the event, recently raised concerns about how her children were dealing with their father's tragic death when she said she had taken them to see a psychologist. She said Bob was not coping as well as his older sister because he did not understand what happened to his father because of his age.

Entry to the zoo was free for children and the party included prizes, cakes, rides and face-painting, the Australian AP said.
