Stars to Step Out for "Stand Up to Cancer"

NEW YORK (CBS) A bevy of stars from Hollywood, sports, music and more are planning to stand up to cancer on Friday.

The second "Stand Up to Cancer" telecast, which will raise funds for cancer research, is set to feature celebrities manning the phones, performing and lending their support during the broadcast.

Reese Witherspoon, George Clooney, Elizabeth Banks, Kathy Bates, Michael Chiklis, Cindy Crawford, Bill Hader, Anne Heche, Cheryl Hines, David Boreanaz, Randy Jackson, Rob Lowe, Jane Lynch, Abigail Breslin, Kelly Osbourne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Renee Zellweger are all among the stars scheduled to participate.

Michael Douglas, who is currently undergoing treatment for a tumor in his throat, is also said to be appearing on the telecast.

Others who will be participating include Alyson Hannigan, Tony Hawk, Jon Heder, Marg Helgenberger, Terrence Howard, Ken Jeong, Rashida Jones, Sally Field, Derek Fisher, Minka Kelly, Laura Linney, Zachary Levi, Ray Liotta, Seth MacFarlane, Mandy Moore, Apolo Anton Ohno, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Jim Parsons, Aubrey Plaza, Naya Rivera, Seth Rogen, The Simpsons, Eric Stonestreet, Gabrielle Union, and Marissa Jaret Winokur, according to a release from the event.

Musical guests scheduled to perform include Stevie Wonder, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Neil Diamond, The Edge, Delta Goodrem, Herbie Hancock, Kris Kristofferson, Lady Antebellum, Leona Lewis, Orianthi and Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Natasha Bedingfield, Martina McBride, Aaron Neville and Dave Stewart.

A number of the celebrities lending their names and voices to the event are cancer survivors. Some are Christina Applegate, Fran Drescher, Michael C. Hall, Maura Tierney, Lance Armstrong, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Robin Roberts, Elizabeth Edwards, Sofia Vergara and Ethan Zohn.

Since its launch in 2008, the "Stand Up to Cancer" campaign has raised more than $100 million for cancer research.

The live, one-hour fundraising event will be simulcast commercial-free on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Bio, Current TV, Discovery Health, E!, G4, HBO, HBO Latino, MLB Network, mun2, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel, The Style Network, TV One and VH1 and will be hosted by network news anchors Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams.

The telecast begins at 8 p.m. EST. An online pre-show, hosted by "So You Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley, will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST, which is also when the celebrity phone bank is set to open. There will also be an online post-show "jam session" featuring performances by Fitz and the Tantrums, Orianthi, Natasha Bedingfield and Heart.
