NEW YORK (CBS) "So You Think You Can Dance " judges unveiled their top 10 - um, make that top 11 - dancers in Wednesday night's episode with the competition scheduled to kick off tonight.
The chosen ones were Brooklyn contemporary dancer Adechike Torbert; Vancouver ballet dancer Alex Wong, who is a principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet; California jazz dancer Alexie Agdeppa; lyrical dancer Ashley Galvin, also from California; contemporary dancer Billy Bell of Florida, who had to drop out of season six because of illness; San Diego belly dancer Cristina Santana; Miami "B-boy" dancer Jose "Full Deck" Ruiz; contemporary jazz dancer Kent Boyd of Ohio; Phoenix contemporary jazz dancer Lauren Froderman; California tap dancer Melinda Sullivan; and contemporary dancer Robert Roldan of California.
On Wednesday night, the TV cameras followed the judges as they visited the finalists - all the winners and some of the losers - to break the news. There were some funny and hokey moments in that, especially when Nigel Lythgoe, the show's creator and producer as well as a judge, got lost and was stopped by police in the wilds of Ohio.
Competition gets under way tonight when the show airs at a special time -- 9 p.m. -- on Fox.
