Sinden Steps Down As Bruins GM
Longtime Boston Bruins general manager Harry Sinden has stepped down just a week after firing coach Pat Burns and hiring Mike Keenan to replace him.
The team has lost three of four games under Keenan.
Assistant general manager Mike O'Connell was picked Wednesday to replace Sinden, who will remain as team president.
"This is a promotion that has been coming for quite a while, but one for which the timing needed to be right," Sinden said in a statement. "I felt that now was that opportune time to make this organizational change. With the recent naming of Mike Keenan as our coach, they can work together to improve this hockey club."
Sinden, 67, has been with the Bruins organization since 1961 as a player, coach and general manager for the last 28 years. In his time as the club's general manager, the Bruins earned 10 division championships and five conference titles and had 26 winning seasons.
