Second Cup Cafe: Katie Armiger

Texas native singer-songwriter Katie Armiger may only be 19 years old, but the country star already has three albums under her belt.

This week she released her third album, "Confessions of a Nice Girl" debuting at No. 11 on the iTunes country albums chart.

She stopped by "The Early Show on Saturday Morning"'s "Second Cup Cafe" to perform her new song, "Best Song Ever," as well as an acoustic version of John Lennon's "Watching the Wheels" as a special tribute to him on what would have been his 70th birthday.

Like Lennon, Armiger embraces her craft of songwriting, which came naturally to her at at the young age of 10. She won first place at Houston's Best Country Singer competition and was discovered by her record label, Cold River when she was just 15.

On her latest album, "Confessions of a Nice Girl," she mostly took the reins and wrote or co-wrote nine of the 12 songs. She did get a boost, however, by collaborating with Nashville songwriters Sarah Buxton, Blair Daly, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Joe West.

As Armiger's career blossomed, so did her appreciation for her fans.

She thought her fans should have more of a say and a direct impact on her latest album. So she teamed up with GACTV.com to have fans help name her album by casting their vote for their favorite title out of the three she chose - over 1,300 fans voted and "Confessions of a Nice Girl" won.

Armiger truly is a nice girl. Her self-penned, "Leaving Home," which she wrote as a tribute to her mother right before she made the permanent move to Nashville at the beginning of 2010, resonates with many of her fans -- especially high school graduates heading off to college. "Leaving Home" is used by more than 20 high schools across the country as their graduation song.

"I've always known that singing was my dream and it's what I wanted to do, but it's definitely extremely hard to leave your parents," she said on her
official website.

When Armiger performs, she's always in good company -- the young talent has opened for several major country stars including Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan.

With strong vocals and proven songwriting ability, Armiger has also been compared to successful country stars like Sara Evans, Martina McBride and Taylor Swift -- and she hasn't even reached her twenties yet!
