Seattle teen finds and tweets rare photos from Nirvana's first show

A Seattle teenager recently uncovered rare photos from Nirvana's first gig, providing a glimpse at the band before fame.

Maggie Poukkula's father, Tony Poukkula, hosted the band's first show in the basement of his Raymond, Washington, in 1987.

"Pictures of my dad and Kurt Cobain playing together back in the day," Maggie, 19, wrote on Twitter after uncovering the photos inside her father's biographies of Cobain and Nirvana. The shots feature Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard as the Nirvana lineup.

According to Rolling Stone, Tony was a member of Seattle band Laytem and grew up with Cobain.

Maggie told Rolling Stone she didn't realize the photos were from Nirvana's first show: "I found out because of all the articles. I didn't realize it was such a historical thing. I thought they were just cool pictures of my dad and Kurt jamming together."

Cobain is the subject of the new documentary "Montage of Heck," which recently premiered on HBO.
