• Moultrie is aiming to follow in the footsteps of his ancestor, American Revolution liberty fighter William Moultrie, who served two terms as South Carolina governor after military service during the Revolution. Timothy Moultrie says he is fighting in the same vein as his forefather with the goal of serving the people and restoring liberty to South Carolina.

• In college at the University of South Carolina, Moultrie lead several attacks on bloated bureaucracy and ineffective government. He created Libertarians for a Better America and hosted many seminars on governmental abuses.

• In 1990, Moultrie founded the Midlands Libertarian Committee (MLC) and has served as chairman ever since. He has also dedicated a large portion of his career to promoting the Libertarian cause as both a radio commentator (WCTG as 'The Radical Rational' & WSCQ as 'Teacher Timothy') and newspaper columnist (column 'Let Freedom Ring'--The Star Reporter/Columbia Star).
