Romantic Getaways Get Real

Valentine's Day is three weeks away. Have you thought about whisking your beloved away for a romantic rendez-vous?

If you have not, Amy Ziff, editor-at-large at Travelocity.com, has some great suggestions for this romantic time of the year.

NEWPORT, R.I. is known for its famed mansions and millionaires.

It's a cozy seaside port city with charming inns, shops and activities like ice skating and cliff-side walks. Also, it's the off-season so you get the benefit of winter rates and fewer crowds

PARK CITY, UTAH is known as the celebrity-studded venue for the Sundance Film Festival, which has made this cowboy town more cosmopolitan.

There's great skiing on all of the area mountains, an activity best followed by time in the spa or Jacuzzi. It's also the perfect spot for a fireside dinner or a moonlit sleigh ride,

TURKS & CAICOS, CARIBBEAN is a serene spot for smooching on the beach.

There's also wonderful opportunities for snorkeling, dinner under the stars and private breakfasts by the shore. The weather is 80 to 84 degrees in the winter.

LONDON, ENGLAND us a city steeped in history that offers all the creature comforts of modern society.

Stay at one of London's famous hotels. The Savoy, for instance, is located in the West End theater district, perfect for taking in a show. There are other neighborhoods to explore; go antiquing on Portobello Road, or shop, dine or dance all night in Notting Hill.

WAITING TILL THE VERY LAST MINUTE: Ziff recommends the Web site Last Minute.com, which specializes in last-minute gifts, reservations and travel at more affordable prices. You can buy trips only two weeks in advance or less.
