REO Speedwagon To Play For Greensburg

Residents of a small Kansas community devastated by a tornado a year ago want to build an eco-friendly playground and The Early Show and REO Speedwagon want to help.

The Early Show is broadcasting live all week from Greensburg, Kan., as the anchors and staff assist community members in their efforts, but the highlight will be a live performance by REO Speedwagon on Friday, May 2 from 7 to 9 a.m. eastern time.

The performance wraps up this week's series titled "Tragedy to Triumph: Greensburg Rising."

The series showcases the Greensburg residents who have joined forces to make their town more ecologically and economically sound in the wake of a devastating tornado that hit last year.

The rock group will perform several of their best selling songs including, "Can't Fight This Feeling," "Roll With The Changes," and their most current, "Find Your Own Way Home."

They will take a break from their North American tour with Def Leppard for The Early Show appearance.

The band became popular in the mid-west in the early 70's with their debut album of the same name, and peaked in the 80's.

Their first live album, "Live: You Get What You Play For," released in 1977, was certified platinum.

Their most commercially successful album, "Hi Fidelity," released in 1980, included the #1 single, "Keep On Loving You," and the #5 single, "Take It On The Run."

The band has sold more than 40 million albums to date.
