Portland's Grant Undergoes Surgery
Portland Trail Blazers forward Brian Grant underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Friday to repair a partially torn rotator cuff.
The surgery was performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal El Attrache, the Blazers said.
The team said Grant was doing well and will begin rehabilitation immediately. He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp on Oct. 6.
Grant, 26, signed with Portland as a free agent before the start of last season after three seasons with Sacramento. The sore shoulder bothered him throughout the year.
The 6-foot-9 Grant missed 21 games last season, but none specifically because of the shoulder problem. He sat out 17 games with a stress reaction in his left femur.
He averaged 12.1 points and 9.1 rebounds last season.
