Poisonous meatballs found in San Francisco meant to harm pets?
SAN FRANCISCO — Four meatballs found on a sidewalk in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Sunday are being tested for poison by police, reports CBS San Francisco.
Authorities say the potentially poisonous meatballs, discovered around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, may have been placed with the intent to kill or harm pets. On Saturday, 21 poisonous meatballs were found hidden in bushes and shrubs in the Twin Peaks neighborhood.
All of the meatball discoveries are being investigated as one case, said police Sgt. Danielle Newman.
CBS San Francisco reported last July about hundreds of poisoned meatballs found in the area. Police advised pet owners to stay alert after two dogs had to go to the emergency room in last year’s incident. One of the dogs, a dachshund named Oskar, died from the tainted meat, according to San Francisco Animal Care and Control officials.
“We don’t anybody to get sick,” Newman said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the SFPD’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
