Pistons Release Pooh
The Detroit Pistons on Friday waived veteran guard Pooh Richardson about a month after signing him to a one-year deal.
The 33-year-old Richardson had spent the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, who bought out the remainder of his contract in September.
In six exhibitions games with the Pistons, Richardson averaged 2.5 points in 11 minutes.
Richardson entered the NBA in 1989 as the first-round draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a three-year stint in Minnesota, Richardson played for the Indiana Pacers for two seasons. He was acquired by the Clippers in a 1994 trade.
The 10-year NBA veteran has a career average of 11.1 points and 6.5 assists in 639 games. He was hampered by an ankle injury last season and expressed frustration playing for the woeful Clippers.
Richardson played at UCLA.
