Pakistan Diplomat Missing At Afghan Border
Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan was missing and feared kidnapped in a tribal border region, state television quoted the foreign ministry as saying Monday.
Ambassador Tariq Azizuddin was heading to the Afghan capital, Kabul, from the tribal district of Khyber, west of Peshawar, when he went missing, Pakistan Television quoted a foreign ministry spokesman as saying.
However, government sources said they can neither confirm or deny that Azizuddin was kidnapped, in a region where Islamist militants have carried out attacks.
According to the BBC, four Pakistani Red Cross workers were reported missing in the same area a few days ago.
Azizuddin was appointed as the Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan in December 2005.
