Paintball vandals suspected at upscale Maine resort...but wait

The Birds, original poster Wikipedia

(CBS/AP) BAR HARBOR, Maine - A guest at a Maine resort hotel - the same one where President Obama stayed last summer - was pretty sure his car was victimized by paintball vandals, given the large colorful splotches he discovered.

Turns out it was more of a Hitchcock scenario, ie...The Birds.

Police were called to the Bar Harbor Regency on July 6 by an employee after a guest complained his vehicle was targeted by one or more paintballers.

Police say the car was indeed a target - of birds that made a mess of things.

Seagulls.

Bar Harbor police dispatcher Sharon Worcester put it thusly: the car was hit by a "large amount of bird poo."

During the summer, Maine's large gull population has been known to soil buildings and vehicles with their smelly droppings.

So don't be so quick to target the paintballers.
