On Film, Women Speak About Sex

Let's Talk About Sex is a new movie about mating and dating in the '90s, from a female perspective.

Shot in 18 days with a mostly female crew, the movie is part comedic love story and part revealing glimpse into the lives of contemporary females, reports CBS 'This Morning' Co-Anchor Mark McEwen.

Troy Beyer not only stars in Let's Talk About Sex; she wrote, directed, and produced the film, in which she plays an advice columnist looking to get her television show about relationships off the ground.

The movie combines the fictional tale of three best friends with documentary-style interviews with real-life women.

"I didn't want people to think that it's just my perspective," says Beyer. "So whenever I introduce a specific issue, I used the women in the interviews to validate the issue. "

There are no obscenities, nude scenes, or sex acts in the film. But the censors at the Motion Picture Association of America forced Beyer to make some cuts to avoid the dreaded NC-17 rating.

"I can only conclude that the MPAA are people who are clearly not satisfied with women expressing their sexual preferences," says Beyer. "It's OK if you don't like it. But if it makes a difference in your life, then I like it for you."
