WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama sits down Wednesday at the White House with the Senate Democratic leadership.

His 2012 budget proposal and the Republican attempt to force sharp cuts in the current budget are likely to be on the agenda. The expected attendees include Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, plus Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Chuck Schumer of New York and Patty Murray of Washington.

Later, the president speaks in the East Room about the America's Great Outdoors initiative he launched last year. It's aimed at developing a 21st century conservation and recreation strategy based on the priorities of American communities.

Obama also will meet during the afternoon with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
