NFL Prez Austrian Resigns
Neil Austrian, who has been president of the NFL under commissioner Paul Tagliabue for the last eight years, resigned on Tuesday.
Austrian said he was pursuing other business interests.
The NFL said that Austrian would not be replaced. Instead, the business units which had been reporting to him, such as NFL Properties, will now report directly to Tagliabue. Football operations already reports to Tagliabue.
Last month, Austrian became chairman of an internet venture named IWon.com, which is controlled by CBS. The NFL said at the time that it would not affect his status with the league.
